El Domingo de Resurrección es el día en que Jesucristo resucita después de la crucificación, va al encuentro con sus apóstoles y luego sube hacia los cielos, también es la finalización de la Semana Santa.
En el Domingo de Resurrección se realizan diversas procesiones religiosas.
El Domingo de Resurrección o de Pascua es la fiesta más importante para todos los católicos, ya que con la Resurrección de Jesús es cuando adquiere sentido toda su religión.
Cristo triunfó sobre la muerte y con esto abrió las puertas del Cielo a los creyentes. En la Misa dominical se recuerda de una manera especial. Se enciende el Cirio Pascual que representa la luz de Cristo Resucitado y que permanecerá prendido hasta el día de la Ascensión, cuando Jesús sube al Cielo.
Los cristianos consideran como pruebas de la Resurrección de Jesús a su sepulcro vacío y sus numerosas apariciones ante los apóstoles luego de este día.
Cuando se celebra la Resurrección de Cristo, se está celebrando también la propia liberación de los creyentes. Celebran la derrota del pecado y de la muerte. En la resurrección encuentran la clave de la esperanza cristiana.
Con el Domingo de Resurrección comienza un Tiempo pascual, en el que se recuerda el tiempo que Jesús permaneció con los apóstoles antes de subir a los cielos, durante la fiesta de la Ascensión.
